A colorful presentation by Glenn Grosch on growing hydrangeas successfully in the Chicago area. Each of 5 species will be covered for hardiness, light requirements and moisture needs. Pruning for flower display and managing blue/pink bloom color will be included.

September 2016 Meeting – SCARCE
SCARCE Our Founding Fathers and Sustainability The Bloomingdale Garden Club hosts Kay McKeen from SCARCE for a presentation on the historical aspects of caring for the environment. Our historic leaders had a clear understanding of the need to protect and nurture the soil. Kay's program will include The Founding Gardeners book, composting, WWII Victory Gardens and today's community gardens. Visitors are welcome.

Presenter: Mark Spreyer, Executive Director of the STILLMAN Nature Center in South Barrington Mark has worked as an ornithologist or naturalist in six states conducting raptor demonstrations for nearly 30 years. His articles on birds of prey and introduced species have appeared in various publications including Birder’s World and the Journal of the Association of Avian Veterinarians.
